Decorative pieces

I forgot to mention previously that often a little flower, bow, heart, etc. added to a cap can really make it special. These little pieces can usually be made with just scraps of yarn. If you are interested in making any, here are a few patterns to check out:

First Cap!

I have wanted to get started on these hats since the yarn started to come in but hadn't had a chance until tonight. I needed some crochet time and this is a perfect way to change your perspective or attitude, at least it works for me. So I grabbed one of the Lion Brand Organic Cotton yarns (Berry Jam) and made this double crochet hat with a single crochet brim. The yarn is perfect for creating a cap with just a little bit of texture and color design without switching yarn colors and has a nice soft feel to it. With this pattern, you can wear the brim down as shown to the left here, or the single crochet brim can be rolled or folded up and look like the picture below. Here's to the official beginning of Q's caps!

Thank you

Several of you brought yarn donations to the service on Saturday, I didn't think to ask anyone to tell me if you left any, so I can't thank you individually but thank you if you contributed! Several people have also mentioned that they are interested in sending or bringing yarn at a later date and I look forward to receiving more but for now, I am very excited about the stash we have started. Pictured here is the yarn I have already received. I can't wait to get started on caps and will be posting photos and other information as I get going. I will schedule a date for those of you that were interested in coming to learn or work with me and post the information here.

You can subscribe to the blog or check in from time to time if you want to follow along with us or be involved.
